Not dead!

Greetings to all 7 of my followers! I live! I have neglected this site due to my lack of a need for it but that's going to change this week.  Over the next week I will be transforming this blog into my professional art page.  I'll be uploading my personal portfolio and after that's been installed I'll be posting regularly again.  I look forward to really turning this place into my personal online art database.  It's good to be back.

I'm really embarrassed how I let this get away from me.  It's not that I'm not producing anything it's just that I haven't been sharing it on here. But no more! I shall post at least 1 drawing a week and after I settle into that 5 a week.

Here's a really old series of doodles from my ole moleskin.  I got the idea from a video clip of Lewis Trondheim setting fire to part of a sketch at a convention.

Doodle a day montage, part 1

Around nine months ago I decided to post a doodle a day on my facebook page (I didn't have a blog at the time).  I've manage to stay up to date with it pretty well and if I ever missed a day I made it the following day with 2 drawings.

Sometimes, after I get out of the shower, I'll drape my

towel over my head and stare intensely into the mirror.

I do this because it makes me think I look like a character

in an epic biblical drama.

Little piece I did in photoshop inspired by Derek Yaniger http://www.derekart.com/.  I really need to experiment more with stylization and the UPA school of cartooning. I guess I can do stylized but it feels too conservative to me.  I need to mess with my line types (dotted, dashed, etc) and push my use of color (good LORD do I need to improve my color).   Make sure to visit Derek's site linked above, it's coolsville daddy-o.

Let's Get Crackin

Hey folks, welcome to my illustration and art blog.  I'll try and keep these posts as frequent as I can.

I've been working on some artists trading cards to improve my watercolor technique.  I've never been very good with color (I'm more of a line guy) but I think I'm improving.  I've got a couple larger pieces in the works but for now I keep my watercolors very small (2.5 x 3.5 inches).
